Driving down to visit Xavier and his partner on their permaculture farm today. Stopped off in Oliveira to buy some t-shirts and underwear (hadn’t packed properly when I left….remembered the important things though such as the frisbee and harmonica).
- The local shops that sell everything in Portugal are run by Chinese. I bought my t-shirts for 2 euros. They sell clothes and household stuff…and some electronics. I am thinking that the link must be Macau – needs more research as the historical link between Portugal and China.
- Given the hilly terrain, the road system is amazing.
- People are very friendly. My Portuguese is improving every day as I randomly speak to anyone who will listen.
- Tomatoes here taste of sunshine!
- Does it ever get cold in Portugal? They tell me it does but this last week it has been in the 20s everyday
- I ask myself each day what reasons I have to come back to London…The Eagle of course and my dear friends whom I miss a lot!
Some of my first impressions:
